CRYOLIPOLYSIS vs. CRYOTHERAPY

Cryolipolysis

Cryolipolysis is a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment designed to target and permanently reduce body fat. Treatable areas include the love handles, thighs, under buttocks, upper and lower stomach, back and upper arms.

Applicators are applied to the areas being treated which allow freezing temperatures (up to -15 degrees Celsius) pass through the skin to cool and destroy fat cells. The now crystallised and dead fat cells are then naturally passed through the body’s lymphatic system.

This treatment is virtually pain free (some patients reporting a “numbing” effect) and can be completed in less than an hour. Clients typically see a 20-40% reduction in fat on treated areas and can expect to see end results around the 12 week mark.

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy is a pain treatment that utilises a method of localized freezing temperatures to relieve tension within irritated nerves. Cryotherapy has proven to be particularly effective for joint conditions such as arthritis. Many athletes also opt for cryotherapy as the process assists with muscle repair and recovery.

Cryotherapy treatments usually occur in a device called a cryochamber or cryosauna, in which the patient’s whole body is exposed to the freezing temperatures. Cryotherapy does not assist with weight loss or fat reduction.

As with any treatment, Hourglass Clinic recommends booking a complimentary consultation to discuss your needs and goals to ensure you are selecting the most effective treatment possible. Please do not hesitate to contact the clinic if you have any further questions or enquiries.
